I was somewhat expecting the battle of Iserlohn to start here. Instead, Kircheis is given another episode in which to develop his character as something other than Reinhard’s sidekick. He does a pretty good job at that as well it can be said.

The winter anime season continues, and rather predictably, it’s dropping a ton in quality. Perhaps I should have been watching more than one sequel. Apropos of nothing, this week failed to give us an answer on how much one man (Kaka, pictured above) can be worth for kicking a ball around for a couple hours per week.

As my viewing pace falls, so does the length of this little weekly summary. On the bright side, it might actually give me some time to put a little depth into each series rather than one or two sentence blurbs. I’ll get back to you on that.

The second week of the year 2009 in my anime viewing will probably not be remembered over the long haul. There was a sign of recovery in one show I slagged off last week, while another’s animation budget plummeted like the value of an Icelandic bank. Overall, it could probably be considered a mediocre week.
