Kou throws yet another pitch that will not be hit.

Kou throws yet another pitch that will not be hit.

I’ve hinted at it somewhere before that I haven’t really watched the new Adachi adaptation in what can be perceived as the correct way. While the first episode of the series was probably in the top 2 or 3 episodes of the spring, I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I did the actual baseball. (more…)

The 30th episode of Legend of the Galactic Heroes continues on with the three main plot threads that have been introduced this season, Yang’s troubles with his government, Reinhard’s tireless quest to seize the galaxy and Phezzan’s plotting to destroy the Alliance while working the Empire. This episode focuses a lot on family and happiness on the Empire side and judging character on the Alliance side.

Yes Kyon, you've done this before. It could also be said this would have worked in one episode too.

Yes Kyon, you've done this before. It could also be said this would have worked in one episode too.

Yes, another post devoted to the time loop goodness that is the Endless Eight arc of 2nd series of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. Amongst the many topics that have been an expression of personal enjoyment going against a perceived notion that the arc could be trolling or just bad in general, or my own momentary decision to call the series itself “Endless Eight” and even a joke that the arc was approaching the running time of Groundhog Day, which has already happened. After commenting that I thought the format of the arc was all wrong, but could be enjoyed anyway, I’ve decided to take a look at how this arc could have been done.

Mittermeyer and Reuenthal together for the first time

The 28th episode of Legend of the Galactic Heroes provides a little more background on the admirals who serve under Reinhard, particularly the duo of Mittermeyer and Reuenthal. Also, the next stage of combat against the Alliance begins to take shape, while internal politicking begins to take a toll on some characters.

Yang Wen-li is not above sleeping on park benches.

Even I am finding it hard to believe I have been doing this for six months. I could do a recap of the first season, but I think the show must go on. A whole 18 months had passed in real life between the end of the first OVA series and the start of this 2nd one. This 27th episode of Legend of the Galactic Heroes focuses mainly on a battle, and some of the struggles of ordinary soldiers. Some behind-the-scenes politicking does occur, but is largely confined to small sections of the episode.
