The Week that Was February 26 – March 4

I'd write something hilarious if I was any good at writing in a faux-Glaswegian accent.

I’ve come to realize that I don’t really watch all that much during the week, and can only really be bothered on the weekends. That’s alright surely. Anyway, some different shows from last week while I continue to fall further behind on what everyone is really watching.

Two episodes of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan started the week. The fifth episode provided a demonstration of the most stupid, appalling and most disgraceful exhibition of dodgeball in the history of the game. The sixth episode will probably be remembered for this:

I might have laughed more if I had ever seen any of Ga-Rei Zero.

Then on Sunday I watched the Academy Award winner for animated short film, La Maison en Petits Cubes. I happen to be a fan of using a French title just because you can, and this just happens to work here. Basically it’s a story of an old man reliving his past as he heads toward the bottom floors of house that has long since become part of the sea. While I do have an infamous level of hate for something which could be considered similar in the Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou manga, I did like this because it didn’t seem completely full of itself.

Yesterday was a little catchup time on Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo, though I’m still 2 eps behind at episode 7. Groping scarves are amongst the most sensible things going in this series which also happens to include holes like breathing in space and Leopard’s shriveling balls. I can’t believe I just wrote that. So I’m through the introduction of the colonies Nerval and Xanthippe. What next I ask?

It's an open goal. Come on!

Finally episodes 5 and 6 of Axis Powers Hetalia. Surely anything that depicts the Anschluss as Germany being forever followed by a cheap guy with Chopin forever being played in the background deserves some points for creativity.
